About Riordan Rigging
Riordan Rigging exists to provide support to shows through rigging department leadership, pre-production planning, intimate knowledge of the industry standards, and intuitive understanding of structures and rigging. We are about creatively overcoming challenges and obstacles. The rig is too complex to load in quickly? Lets get organized. The capacity for the venue is low? Lets spread the load. There isn't a structure to rig from? Lets build one.
Its about creating a safer work environment, educating a new generation of technicians, respecting the traditions we learned from, building opportunity where there might not have been in the past; we do all of that while providing a high level of support for our clients and their entertainment rigging and structure needs.
About the Owner and Head Rigger
At 14, as a kid in the Netherlands, I lived across the street from the rehearsal house of a punk rock band. Theirs was the first show I ever loaded in and out, and I've found myself coming back to the industry ever since. I found a group to run sound for in high school, a job as a spot op in college, pursued a degree focused on lighting, and eventually found my passion, a certification in rigging.
I find myself most at home with a hard hat and safety vest, signaling a crane, directing a truss build, and/or verifying bridle points. More than just leadership on site, I love building the CAD models, rendering, and paperwork, coordinating with directors and engineers, and building the show before we build the show.
